Route "Flight and refugees", No. 5

Behandlungs-
zentrum für
Folteropfer Berlin

Many refugees have been victims of torture in their native country. They have experienced terrible things. Besides the trauma they have also lost their homeland. Physic and psychological wounds often make the refugees lives isolated and speechless. In the treatment centre children, teenagers and adults from more than 50 different countries in the world get a medical and psychological aftercare. This can be really long; it can take from one to four years. Refugees are also supported by social workers in the asylum process and considering their rights. In order to integrate in Germany, they also get practical help, like for example language courses and support for professional qualifications.
