Route "Favourite tour", No. 4

The Stadtpark Steglitz was laid out by the former garden director Fritz Zahn and the horticulture inspector Rudolf Korte between 1906 and 1914. Originally it was a marshy place, which has been planted with trees. The park is really huge (17 hectares). There are several recreation grounds and play grounds, a miniature golf and a driving school. In the park there are several ponds where ducks swim and where you can sometimes see herons. There are benches and fountains as well. In the middle of the park there is a rose garden with a pool with water lilies. In winter, you can slide on the hill which is in the park. During summer time many concerts take place. The recreation ground at the South exit of the park is particularly interesting for children. There are climbing facilities, slides, tyre swings and many other things.
